TeamFortress2
Evaluation Result:
Use the servers for Great Pub Action. Stay away from getting involved in community, there really is not one.
Server IPs: 74.63.65.82 thru 84
Voice Server IP: Dont Bother - Nobody Uses It
Donation Confidence: Low
Our first community that we took time to evaluate was http://www.teamfortress2fort.com . The servers in this community are very good. The players in the server are friendly and utilize teamwork very well. The calling out of Spy and Sentry locations occur on a regular basis. However the working as a team (moving together as a well organized group is sparatic). The servers are good quality with low pings for most players.
The servers are provided for free from Clutchkill (http://www.clutchkill.com). Which is bonus for a community, since it does not have a need to rely on donation to keep the servers operating. But on the negative side these servers can disappear at any time at the whim of Clutchkill. Whereas if the servers were actually paid for, donators would be more at ease knowing that the server they are supporting will always be there.
The staff members in the forums are actually very rude, and don't tolerate any questions about where money goes from the donators. There is no actual community beyond the game servers themselves. The community ventrilo server is a ghost town, which has everyone communicating with in game voice and a handful of people that use the website chat system.
Donation System- The community donation system is weak. The people who help support the server only get a little graphic next to their name for the forums. But yet admins and community members that may not be supporting the server at all may kick a donator to make room on the server. In otherwords, they want your money but you may never be one of the "chosen ones" to have reserved slot access. Donated money was refunded promptly when donation practice was challenged by Paypal.
