Console Combat is back and well rested! We are excited to announce our new venue will be Fox-and-Hound in Parma. Their general manager, Jeff, is enthusiastic about our community and he is willing to do whatever it takes to help our scene succeed. After CC's birth at Manny's, to our initial venue at Pub, and lastly, our break out venue at McCarthys we have learned many things. As everyone is aware, that knows me, I care very much about this community and I now believe we have the ingredients to really blast off. The pub offered a regular venue that offered a large space though it lacked food and some key ingredients to make this work. At McCarthy's, we had everything we needed in good food, good venue, and good location. However, Monday night seemed to make it very hard for people to regularly attend due to other responsibilities. NOW at Fox-and-Hound we have the following:
1) A large venue with all the space we need and storage for our essentials.
2) Food, beer, and fricken deserts!
3) A central location that will make it easier for the canton crew to attend.
4) Sunday Sunday Sunday! We now have a place that will give us two Sundays a month!
5) Better times... from 1-2 PM to whenever. So you can get home at a decent time to get a good night sleep for work/school.
6) Solid and reliable wi-fi
Finding a place that would accommodate us on Sunday was absolutely essential for the growth of our scene. We have made the decision to lower the frequency to two times a month as to not dilute our scene and to generate a bit more hype. With growth will come more free stuff for the scene! For example we will have an inaugural AE and MVC3 (gentleman's edition) in which Microsoft points and food vouchers will be handed out. Also, by showing up... you have a chance to win something including systems/games!
In addition to all the 'newness' we will be charging a $5 venue fee that is due at the time of entry. You are also strongly advised to buy something from Fox-n-Hound in terms of food. Sunday is a perfect day to chill out at FnH and grab some dinner in btw games. Rasonable prices and specials. The venue fee is not expected if you do not plan on gaming. No matter what time you show up, the fee is due. There is no exception and everyone who touches a system must have a wrist band that shows they have paid their venue fee. This fee all goes right back to the community and not a cent of it will be for personal use. This is necessary if you guys want to have a local scene. I have personally spent thousands in the past year buying stuff and promoting. Please think of it as your contribution to having a local scene. Although a few of use organize these events... this belongs to all of us.
Whether you are a casual gamer or a competitive gamer... this is the place for you. When tournaments are going on, we will have designated stations to play casuals. For the competitive players... I am trying to breed high level players. Compared to some of the established scenes like the West Coast... we are in our infancy. Lets grow as a community and get the spot light on Cleveland!
