Censored tags
Why were the tags suddenly censored en masse after one day? On the FAQ it says "A. Tags can be a good indicator of when there is a mismatch between how you perceive your game, and how your game is perceived by customers.", yet now I can't seem to find any negative tags whatsoever. Even if you disagreed with the joke tags that people put on games like MGR and "games" like Gone Home, the censorship still flags perfectly justifiable tags like "loli", which was used for the exact purpose of the tagging system, to browse tags based on gameplay elements. Even on things like Bioshock: Infinite and Fallout 3 with tags like "Overrated" surely that fulfills the exact purpose mentioned in the quote I included. If tags that are negative are popular, it tells the developer that there is obviously something wrong with their game. It could be argued that it doesn't matter at all since anyone can tag games they don't own, so wouldn't it be more legitimate to only enable tagging of games owned and removal of censorship? Then the steam tags would give a clear indication of what the userbase thought of a game with no doubt there since the people doing the tagging have to actually own the game beforehand.

I was thinking the exact same thing, loli is not derogatory or inappropriate if the game actually features one. Overrated may be seen as "harassing" but even then it does fill its purpose as telling any newcomer that the game may fall flat to their expectations.
Also hope that tagging is made available for owners only.

Steam tags quickly became laughable corrupt. Right now only positive opinion tags are allowed. Compare "overrated" to "underrated". Steam, developers and publishers want to sell games. Negative tags have a negative effect.

Don't bother with it.

It came about because a bunch of people flooded this forum with rants, it first started because someone used a term that use to mean happy but now refers to someone's preferance for partners (trying to tip toe around those stinking filters myself). It's the usual ultra conservative, knee jerk, fear based reaction. What we REALLY need is a way to turn it off since we're not all whining babies about a few little words out here.

Steam if you guys ever read these instead of just reacting to the flood of hypocrites I leave you with a few quotes.

Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved, and tyranny is erected on its ruins. Republics and limited monarchies derive their strength and vigor from a popular examination into the action of the magistrates. ~ Ben Franklin

They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. ~ Ben Franklin

It’s the suppression of the word that gives it the power, the violence, the viciousness ~ Lenny Bruce
