Why Soldiers are OP Continued (Disproval of common arguments):

Disproval of common attempts to justify Soldier being difficult:
#1: "Rocket Jumping is hard." Basic Rocket Jumping is not hard. However, advanced Rocket Jumping certainly is. The reason this argument is invalid, however, is because any >ADVANCED< technique for any class will be more difficult to learn. Meta-level play should not be used as justification for keeping a class excessively strong, especially when a very small percentage of players are at an advanced level to warrant such "difficulty" arguments.
#2: "Their damage isn't overpowered, Spys can 1-shot anybody, Heavys insta-kill up close, Demos can sticky bomb stack for insta-kills, Snipers can head shot." All of these examples are situational and require some level of forethought or setup. The Soldier's damage output requires no setup, though it is made even stronger through setup.
#3: "It's >TEAM< Fortress, no one class can win the game." This is true, but irrelevant. "Overpowered" does not mean "can instantly win a game 1v12". Overpowered would mean that when compared to any other class (each one takes up the same player slot), Soldiers provide an excessive advantage to the team, and require a lower level of skill to be as or more effective.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read all of this! I sincerely hope it is helped expand your perspective on the Soldier class. My goal is not to try and make anyone stop playing Soldier, but to help Soldier players to understand that they have an inherent advantage in the game, and they should appreciate that before calling others bad or talking smack to people playing classes that require more skill to use effectively.
