If you've been living under a rock, source filmmaker is a program created by VALVe for creation of in-game machinimas. (And all of the "Meet the" videos! Seriously, you could create videos of THAT QUALITY.)

It renders the demo recorder and demo smoother obsolete, it's easy to use with tons of features.
VALVe has used it to create trailers for most of their games.

If you search for it on youtube you'll see tutorials on how to use it. Unfortunately it's only released through the Team Fortress 2 beta, and it's only compatible with two games. At this time it's illegal to obtain.

Although I have seen no claim from VALVe that they will EVER release it, people say it's rumored that it'll come when the last "Meet the" video for Team Fortress 2 is finished.

Well, although VALVe is awesome they have no reason not to release it. It works perfectly and is bug free. A true must have of software.

Well, VAVLe. Why can't you just release it? If there are bugs somewhere you can patch it later. We. Need. This.
