L4D2 Boycott

L4D2 PC Preorders Left in the Cold
On the request of Walking_Target, I'm posting this. Comments are reopened for the time being. If more stupidity crops up comments will be closed again.

The below is all from Walking_Target:

" This isn't unexpected. Valve hasn't pushed a game out inside of one year before. Just look at what happened with Crash Course too. That map/DLC came out almost a full day before the PC version was released: both versions needed patching to make them right too.

In the end though, despite the fact that this is making the PC community quite angry, it is probably a smart move on Valve's part. If there are severe bugs in the demo, it is probably better to delay it than suffer fanboy wrath over clipping issues or a bugged spawn. If they released a severely bugged demo, it would do nothing to help them - they learned that from the Crash Course incident.

One think I can say for sure, Valve will respond to this. They are pretty good guys, despite screwups like this.

So please. Stop messaging me to tell me how PO'd you are about this. I don't run things here any more and I don't own L4D2. So it is pretty hard to care. Relax, play some L4D, Stalker, Borderlands, whatever your flavor is. That's what i'm doing.

If you do want to discuss this or find out more www.thecriticalgamer.net will be covering the demo release over the next few days.

Thats his message. I just relayed it.

I'll be banning trolls for the next hour too.

Look Johnny, TF2 dosent need a sequel atm, its good enough buisness for valve as it is. Im still kinda worried about how long will they have ideas for updates but we'll see. And yea episode 3 is late, apparently they might make just another half-life sequel entirely.

it's just a wake up call. and naturally games companies will learn to respect gamers as the market leans towards wii-quality games because they are cheap crap and still get a reasonable amount of purchases. if they don't, they'll lose their jobs and false sense of satisfaction.

I will never buy this piece of shit. I was ripped off with L4D1 at 50$.... L4D2 should of been 10$ DLC at most, free content with L4D1 at best...

L4d2 sucks. I didn't even get it for free until I was able to add zoey and the other characters in that made the first game so much better than the new junk ass game. I'm sure in L4D3, Gabe NOBALLS, will have the next survivors be a Priest, a Gay Dancer, another black dude but this time he will be calling everyone racist, and a gypsy lady who can use her crystal ball to see incoming tanks and witches and other new monsters. I didn't care about the content as much as the fact in L4d2 they removed the characters that drew me into the first. Replaced them with more ugly characters like Gordon Freenerd and the whole rest of the cast is crap. G Man or whatever and all those lame ass noob (shit I did the first month in game design class) TF2 characters with their junk design.

Agreed, not going to bother buying L4D2 until it's $20. Not enough content, not enough different, not enough for the money.

They were really onto something with L4D, and if they had built upon that (maybe giving characters unique abilities, or giving players "perks" to toy with- both on the survivor and undead side of things, etc), they could have had an amazing game.

Using the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" method also just looks like laziness when you release the next game with nothing changed. It needed more depth.

Oh well, this year promises a lot of fantastic games, all of which are worth the money over this imho.
