L4D2 Boycott

Smokers and mirrors?
Here we are, nine days later and 25,000 members stronger in our movement. Since the last time we posted, we had sent an email to Valve with the hopes of getting a response. A few days ago, we received such a response, and we would like to address its content.

First, Valve has said they will be looking into the allegations of forum censoring on official Steam forums. So far, we've received no word back as to any action taken.

Second, Valve has issued a statement not much different than the article on Kotaku regarding new content for L4D1: http://kotaku.com/5286185/valve-responds-to-left-4-dead-2-boycott-reaffirms-support-for-original

While we are excited about the idea of new content, we are still in the dark about it. What sort of content is it? For all we know, it could be a new main menu screen. Is it a new map, is it new monsters, is it new weapons, etc...? We'd like to know what is going to be in this new content.

Furthermore, when will this content be released? Is there any sort of timetable within which the content will be made available? These are all questions we would like Valve to elaborate on.

Last, Valve is trying to address the community split from releasing a new game in the series. While they did not go into details, and are still working on it, we will keep you posted. (If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to write up in a post on our forums).

We will be responding to Valve to follow up on their latest statement to us.

For now, you can look forward to a lot more interviews. We did a podcast which will be up by the weekend, along with a few other interviews we're working on, in an effort to portray the group accurately. We are anything BUT whining. Anyone who claims otherwise is ignoring the steps we've taken to try and work with Valve. When these issues become resolved, we're sure that our critics will be the first in line to download those L4D1 updates.

simple solution is to release the L4D2 content as DLC. arouns 1200 or so microsoft points would be adequate, don't you think? that's what, about $20 or so dollars? not a bad thing, but better than paying $60+ for a new disk. plus if your hard drive fries, or something happens, you always have the download.

plus it's just not right to think that releasing another title one year later with pretty much the same content as the first in it. yeah, it looks prettier, zombies look more like "real" zombies and everything is crisper, new weapons, etc... but that's the only major changes. aside from 4 new maps, who in their right mind would want to pay another 60 bucks for just that? DLC is the only way to go.

if you read this all, sorry for the TL;DR. ;D

To anyone saying that this is because of the Xbox and it would be unfair to make Xbox (LOL) people buy a game while we enjoy the update for free , Valve has and is already doing that with TF2. In fact TF2 has recieved so much DLC that it puts L4D to shame considering we've received 0 content that shouldn't have been put in from the start.

Yes I am saying we were robbed the moment we bought the game at ever since Valve has been trying to catch up to make the wasted money worth while. The game was amazingly shoddy when it first came out and if I could have returned the game I would have.

Yes I like the game but the multiplayer is no where need up to par of even EA. Once Valve steps in we expect a good product from the start not a few months afterwards.

Its funny how Valve's Community features have come back to bite them in the arse.

The point is that L4D1 had some terrible features missing from it such as 4 x 4 match making. They should have patched iit. It's a 5 hour coding project. So they want 100k people to pay $50 for that? Thats 5 million dollars for a few new maps, a match making system, and a chain saw.

They already mentioned what some of the new content will be, such as the 4x4 matchmaking. Basically, things that should have been in from very early on, and nothing that gives the the game anything new

I think deflour is trying to say yeah people are gonna get SC2 because it's been many years for the sequal. His point is trying to say L4D2 is coming out too soon which is why this boycott is happening. We're all for a sequal I bet, but it's wayyy too soon.

Not even close Deflour.
SC 1 was released in 1998, StarCraft II isnt even out yet(it's due at the end of 2009).

Wikipedia would have told you as much

this groups request to be discounted on L4D2 just because you own L4D1 is ludicrous. Should I be discounted on Starcraft 2 since I own the original? I'd be a fool to think so. I would prefer to see it released as an expansion but if it's released as a whole new game so be it.
