L4D2AOI: Automated Release System (ARS) Update
This update runs purely on the site, no client update required!.
This is one of the first batch of updates for the l4d2aoi before the next version of the client can come out, im aware it has been a while since my last update and many may have thought the project was dead in the water.
One of the biggest problems I was having with the aoi was getting the actuall addons into the database so that everyone could download them. I spent many months designing a new release system, after a couple of failed attemps I came up with the Automated Release System (ARS).
The ARS pulls as much information as it can from an addon and tries to match it up automatically in the database, this way I can drop new addons onto the server and have the server match up the files and publish a new release. This is especially useful when you have a lot of requests for new addons and have to do it both single-handedly and by manually updating the info in the database.
The system is used compleatly in the new l4d2aoi client (more news on the new client in the coming weeks) but as a favour to you all the system has been back-ported to the "old" (current) client. This means you should all have the same addons as the new client, and will continue to do so in the future.
Due to the caching system on the l4d2aoi client you may want to close the app (if you have it open) and browse to %PROGRAMDATA%\Team [SAO]\Left 4 Dead 2 Add-On Installer\cache and delete the files you find in there. Upon restarting the app you will have a fresh copy of all the new addons.
