Announcement of what has happened (part 1).

Dam thing is to long.

Since people are making drama out of no where I thought it best to post this so we can get everything straightened out.

First there is no stupid drama. It wasn't sparked by drama it wasn't even remotely present.

OK now that is out of the way to the details. If you have been in ventrilo for any amount of time you would have heard CC and I talking about shutting some servers down. The reason again is not drama, it was because we missed the old days. We knew that it wasn't magically going to revert from the current "I didn't win so it has to be team stacking" back to just having fun, but it would have helped weed out the main complainers. In stead of trying to play better people just would complain that it was everything but them that was the problem. Anyone in ventrilo can contest that it was a daily occurrence that someone was raging there.

The original plan was that we were going to drop the dedicated box and keep server 3, but make it basically like server 1 and to keep ventrilo. This was all going to happen after the tournament, but be announced before then. As i said before this was just because the fun of the game was lost. Anyone that was there back in the beginning probably remembers how it was and that's what we missed and wanted to try to get back to even if it ended up being just a few people every now and then.

Another aspect of this change is due to changing life conditions. I am going back to finish my CS BS degree and then start on my masters and CC is going to be changing jobs and work on advancing his career. Some have asked if that is the case why not try to hand it off to other people to run. Well several reasons. The main reason is because it wouldn't make a difference and even if you do it's still tied to you and everything still gets passed onto you and so you really don't pass it on. it just gets stuck with you.

So what prompted the shutdowns. This one is a little complex. Yes there was attacks on the web server and game server box. These weren't the normal, "lol i am flooding your game server" attacks but a full on attack. We had already been on bad terms with our web host for a while. CC got it cheaper because he used to do work with the owner of it and it was a good host. However he wasn't that good at resolving attacks. Because of that he ended up terminating the contract and shut the web server down. To help mitigate the attacks on the server box we just told the reseller just to have it turned off till further notice. With the box off it would make it easier to find the offending IP's and do what they need to.

Yep, I remember the good old days, when teams were evened out and fights lasted until stalemate or win.

this stinks. This community is great, there are almost no good vanilla tf2 servers out there anymore, and ones with sane admins and rules. I hope this all gets worked out :3

well let all hope this all gets patched up. I'd hate to have to search around for a new place to play that has the same awesome people.

Ah, I was wondering what happened to the website. So is the site doomed or are there plans to get the forums up and running again?

Does that mean CC2 servers will no longer support custom cilentside content? (as server 3 had done)
