42nd Fire Ants
RIFT
For those playing, or considering, RIFT here's some server/faction info. Posting here since our forums are on holiday.
Server: Seastone (PvP)
There are queues but I'm worried that the other servers will end up being lower population after the launch rush dies down. The queues have been going down steadily but I'm not going to lie, they suck and there is an hour or so wait most times.
A lot of former DAoC people are on Seastone, including a contigent of Gawaine folks, and some work folks. I should be in a guild this week with the old Gawaine people and will make sure I can get invites for anybody else that wants them.
Faction: Guardian
The logic behind Guardian is that Defiant will zerg like mad and most of the DAoC people were more interested in the underdog faction. It's too early to tell though I think. Regardless, I'm playing Guardian. The classes are mostly mirrored between the two anyway.
Overall Impression: Fun
It's a pretty standard modern MMO but with a lot of neat touches from other games that make it a lot of fun. Public quests from WAR (the Rifts) are there but done so much better. A lot of WoW mechanics and some DAoC mechanics. They did a good job blending a lot of good things from other games together. The class/soul system is quite nice. I'm getting geared up to start PvP so we'll see how that goes.
