With the Soviet Union at conflict with the Axis Powers, High Command was in urgent need of efficient and able infantry. Consequently, in May of 1941, the 193rd Rifle Division was devised in the Ukrainian SSR and attached to the 31st Rifle Corps. It was comprised of the 604th, 883rd, and 895th Rifle Regiments, the 384th Artillery Regiment, the 50th Anti-Tank Battalion, the 4th Sapper (Engineer) Battalion, and the 320th Reconnaissance Company, all under the authority of Colonel F.N. Smekhotvorov after 1942.

The 193rd Rifle Division is a Soviet-based realism unit for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, led by a staff of motivated veteran officers who were appointed by the General Staff of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Formed after the release of Red Orchestra, the 193rd Rifle Division is the oldest remaining Soviet realism unit.
Experienced and battle-hardened, the 193rd has participated in a number of realism campaigns, including Eastern Front Operations, the Ostfront Realism Campaign, and the Theatre of Conflict campaign. The 193rd Rifle Division takes pride in committing to the values of conduct, integrity, and neutrality within the community, both realism and competitive.
