In-Home Streaming microphone support

The latest Steam beta client (dated July 26 or newer) adds streaming microphone support on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

Once you install the beta update you may need to reboot your computer to activate driver installation.

Then, when you start streaming for the first time you'll be prompted to install streaming audio drivers on the remote computer.

When streaming starts, Steam will switch the default audio devices over to new virtual audio devices that are used for streaming audio, and restore them once streaming is complete.

If you want to avoid this completely, just start Steam on the remote computer with the -skipstreamingdrivers command line option.

Ah, by changing the registry entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

That's fine if you're comfortable with the registy. Most users don't even know what it is.

Valve - don't be stupid. There's no reason whatsoever that you can't just expose the setting in the streaming options.

And how exactly does one impliment the -skipstreamingdrivers option when the host machine boots directly into Big Screen mode?

The drivers don't work if the stream has to be restablished. The game has to be restarted. I hate that and I'm kinda angry about it.

No thx :( After this update error about "needs to update audio driver" and when i click "install" - nothing happend. Driver installed silencly, but this is not fix problem with streaming.
Main comp - Ubuntu 17.04, remote comp - Win10 x64

My tv could not find the steam computer over the network, untill I plugged a controller into the tv , so if anyone is having some issues, remember to plug some input devices first and then, run steam link on the TV!, working flawlessly now! great work!

Same issue as Janus, the installer just quits over and over again.
Did you reboot the computer after installing the beta update? YES
If you did, what version of Windows are you using, and is it 32 or 64-bit? Windwos 10 64-bit latest slow ring updates.

So the most common OS is left out in the dark. And 2 years late. Reget this purchase, anyone want to buy my steam hardware? Both Controller and link was a HUGE waste of $$$$
