March was a shorter month than usual due to the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco but we have still made good progress with Plague Inc: Evolved. We got to meet loads of cool developers at the conference, meaning we came back with lots of ideas for the future and even more enthusiasm to push on and release the final version of Plague Inc: Evolved. :)
Our main focus remains multiplayer. A few weeks ago - we hit a bit of a roadblock when we encountered some nasty desync bugs. This meant that the simulation and the turns on the different machines were not running at the same time, giving one player an advantage (usually the host). The desync seemed to happen at random but we've spent a lot of time debugging and we think we've got to the bottom of it now (linked to game events firing). Haven't had any desync issues in the last few days so the bug is hopefully gone for good!
Separately, the Linux build is coming along nicely and it went into beta a few weeks ago. Thanks very much to everyone that has been helping out, it's been great to see so many people contributing to bug finding on all the different machines/systems etc. If you want to get involved then please check out the thread in our Steam forums.
Keep an eye out for a new Scenario Creator Competition that we are going to run. Hoping to announce it in the next day or so!
Players are continuing to making some awesome scenarios using the Scenario Creator. The Events lab from the last update is an extremely powerful tool, and it's great to see people taking advantage of this.
Featured Scenarios highlight some of the most inventive and polished creations. Here are the latest picks - congrats to authors!
Rabies by 892459469 - a well-written scenario which is a good, if not scary take on a real life disease
SCP-632 by infernalthing - one of many good scenarios by infernalthing. This one is well-balanced and quite amusing (in a Plague Inc. sort of way)
Sonic Fever by Coolsy101 - an amusing scenario where you get to turn the world into everyone's favourite hedgehog and friends!
Anti-plague by ya.bym5 - one of the cleverest scenarios we have seen. Turns Plague Inc. completely on its head...
Rise of the Xenomorphs by Eremus007 - Very well thought out scenario with lots of new traits, graphics and events, inspired by everyone's favourite alien
You can check out these and thousands of other scenarios in game now! For a full list of all scenarios that we have ever featured, please see our Featured Scenario Collection.
Multiplayer is still the primary development focus. We've recently added the concept of gems (not final name), which are basically special multiplayer active abilities to throw off your opponent and fight them. Still more work to be done and lots of bugs to be squashed but its getting there. I'm going to the Game Developers Conference next week which will take up a bit of time but I hope to have more news to share in a month!
You can check out these and thousands of other scenarios in game now!
Multiplayer is still on track - will share more with you in February. As I'm mainly focused on the mp design - we have a bit of spare programming capacity so looking at getting the tutorial done as well as polishing some other bits and pieces. (so keep an eye out for them)
Minor hotfix for Evolution 13 - 0.8.7
Just pushed out a minor hotfix - see details below:

It’s the holiday season – time to infect the world with happiness! Boring governments have banned holidays, laughter and celebrations. Luckily, the Neurax Worm has teamed up with Santa and is determined to infect the whole world with joy and happiness.
On top of this, we have added a Teleportation scenario - Highly advanced technology has created the opportunity to travel through a portal and teleport to other countries. Where will they go?
We've also added loads of new achievements for Simian Flu and a few others. Still waiting for someone to work out how to do "Film Fanatic" properly though :p
There are of course a range of other fixes/tweaks/improvements, including the ability to download scenario files from the Steam Cloud so that you can easily work on a custom scenario from a different machine.
Hope you enjoy spreading the Christmas Spirit :p
With the Scenario Creator fully functional (and people making awesome stuff)- we are now focusing on the multiplayer mode. We have some very buggy versions being played between the team, and we are very excited about it. More news in January

The most powerful Scenario Creator update yet is live! Now you can make killer robots stampede through countries, have zombies that spontaneously explode, or just put the entire population of Greenland in a rocket and send them to the moon! The only limit is your imagination (and scripting skills :P).
The Events Lab adds vast scripting / mod options on top of all the other labs you can already use. Many Custom Scenarios have great storylines, however they still have the standard Plague Inc. pop ups appearing halfway through. Now you have the ability to remove standard events and script your own.
Better still, this gives you the opportunity to drastically change gameplay partway through. At the moment you can only set up how the game starts and how the governments respond, but with the Events Lab you can tweak variables (however small or large) at different intervals throughout the game. The scenario can react to the player, and the player will have to react to the scenario. There is a mountain of new variables/mechanisms that can be accessed now, from changing difficulty halfway through a game to bringing people back from the dead as normal healthy people (not as zombies!).
This update gives you an amazing amount of scope to do some really radical things with the Scenario Creator. We are looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Now that the Scenario Creator is fully functional - we are now shifting full focus to the multiplayer mode. We have some very buggy versions being played between the team, and we are very excited about it. We will also be releasing 2 special scenarios in the new few weeks - keep an eye out for Santa's Little Helper and the Teleportation scenarios.
