In the coming update named Furness (after the British soldier Christopher Furness[en.wikipedia.org]) we’re adding a Heavy Tank that will makes every US Tank Crewman’s heart leap for joy US M4A3E2 Sherman “Jumbo”!



The M4A3E2 Sherman or “Jumbo” is the Heavy Tank variant of the M4 Sherman Medium Tank, which was the most numerous battle tank used by the US Forces. The “Jumbo” was only produced in 1944 as an Assault Tank in anticipation of the battle from the coast to Berlin. It’s task was to make its way through the enemy front and dislodge or destroy the prepared enemy at the heart of the defense.

In the game, the M4A3E2 Sherman comes as an addition to the M26 Pershing, which was thought to fulfill a similar role, but was slower in production.
The “Jumbo” is equipped with a 76mm main gun, and two M1919A4 Machine Guns, one for the driver and one for the support gunner. It can be upgraded with Armor Piercing Composite Rigid and High Explosive Ammunition and one Support Crate.

The M4A3E2 Sherman can be unlocked by US Tank Crewmen on Armor Assault Ribbon Rank 9 and is equipped as a Heavy Tank.



The M4A3E2 Sherman hit Europe by the end of 1944 and the eager American Tankcrews could hardly wait to try it. They christened their new mount “Jumbo” to signify how oversized and improved it was in comparison to the M4 Medium Tank they were used to. The M4A3E2 Sherman’s additional armor brought down the operational speed and maneuverability, but the damage it could take was noticeably superiour to its little brother. As the M4A3E2 Sherman was one of the heaviest armored tanks at the time, many of them served as command tanks, providing a safe but mobile unit for the Tank Division Commanders.
