Did you realise that it's been a year since Cloudbuilt came out? Well, it is. And to celebrate the game's first anniversary, we've got a special treat for everyone: you can now grab and use the new Level Editor tools to create your very own Cloudbuilt stages. And the best part? They're totally FREE!
These tools are an updated and slightly modified version of the ones used by Coilworks to make the main Cloudbuilt levels, and you can use them to create either standalone levels or, if you're really creative, whole new game modes! Combine modifiers used in the original modes to mix things up, or come up with creative solutions to make any type of level you like – focus heavily on action, make technical challenges or simply offer a flowing platform environment. It's entirely up to you!
What's more, the tools are integrated with Steamworks, so uploading your own maps (as well as downloading the maps made by other people) is incredibly easy. They also come complete with ALL the in-game maps for you to use as a base for your own ideas. Plus! If you own the Defiance DLC, you can use all the new elements from that – power-refilling walls, bouncing boosters, platform obstructions and more – in your stages too. (Please note: you must also have the Defiance DLC if you want to download and play levels made using elements from the DLC).
To kickstart the level-building action, we've not only got Cloudbuilt up for a 50% discount right now (so invite your friends to join in!), we're also running a competition! To enter the competition, all you need to do is submit a level design to the Steam Workshop by Monday 20th April. Two winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
• One will be selected based on the highest community rating (so be sure to promote your map and publish it soon!)
• One will be judged by developer Coilworks on creativity and level design
Each winner will receive:
- 1x Mad Catz R.A.T. Tournament Edition Mouse
- 1x Mad Catz G.L.I.D.E. Tournament Edition Mouse Mat
Entries are accepted globally, and the deadline is Monday 20th April 2015 at 23:59 GMT. Terms and conditions can be found on the RSG website[www.risingstargames.com].
Whether you're entering the competition or not though, we hope you enjoy the Level Editor tools. The new era of Cloudbuilt starts today!
Today marks the release of Coilworks’ latest addition to the Remix level series. If you’ve conquered the current stages and beaten our DLC packs, then prepare for your next challenge. These carefully crafted levels accentuate the most exciting and exhilarating parts of Cloudbuilt, Through the Fog and Defiance DLC packs.
“We are overwhelmed by the support and love we have received from the community during Cloudbuilt’s evolution. It’s a true joy to see players immersing themselves in the game and pushing their speedrunning capabilities to the maximum. This is hugely motivating for us when creating new content for the fans.” -Coilworks
The criteria to unlock the new remix levels are:
[Remix] Track III - Complete the previous two remix tracks
[Remix] Fog - Complete all 5 levels in the Fog branch
[Remix] Defiance - Complete the first 4 Defiance levels
“Even before Cloudbuilt was launched we have always been asked for a level editor and we are ecstatic to announce over the last few months we have been working to make this a reality for the community. We are super excited to see the creative and unique designs you will come up with. We know there is a ton of crazy ways to utilize Cloudbuilt’s mechanics that we haven’t had time to explore, especially those introduced in the Defiance DLC.” -Coilworks
The level editor will become a truly defining feature for Cloudbuilt and like Coilworks, we can’t wait to see what the community is capable of. The level editor is scheduled to be available at Cloudbuilt’s anniversary on 20th March. Until then, hone your skills and get ready for a whole new world of Cloudbuilt starting next month!
So, it's been coming for a while but finally, the Defiance DLC for Cloudbuilt is available to buy! This new DLC packs a huge chunk of content to the game, including five brand new levels that will challenge you like never before, new skins for Demi, an entirely new game mode called Assault that can be unlocked to play on any of the original levels as well as these new ones AND even a new alternate ending to the game!
Coilworks have worked super-hard to make Defiance as jammed with content as it is, so we hope you'll show your support by picking it up. It's the ultimate test of skill for any Cloudbuilt player... have you got what it takes to see it through to the end?
We are happy to finally announce that a new and larger DLC is coming to Cloudbuilt very soon!
Compared to the previous DLC this one is more elaborate and much more substantial, including larger and more diverse levels, new mechanics, enemies, story, skins as well as a new game mode and a new ending.
We have spent the last few months working on this in secret and are now very excited to finally start talking about it and show you all what we have in store. We will post updates with new info and screenshots from the DLC every day till the release and we hope you soon will be as excited as we are!
It's been a few weeks now since the beta ended and everyone got to see the benefits of our work, and not surprisingly we've been refining things even further using your feedback. As such, it's time for another mini-update to fix a few things that you've pointed out to us recently. Be sure to verify the integrity of your local content to grab this newest build, and you'll see the following things change:
Fixed 'Magnetic wall' bug
Fixed bug with Drone Hives respawn when loading checkpoints.
Removed a crash bug caused by invalid collision shapes in a few places
on some Through The Fog levels
Fixed a bug with player death and throwback state resulting in double
bounce height upon colliding with floors at times, also leading to some
weird death poses
Made the death camera a little clearer, so it’s easier to see when you
Fixed a potential bug with Quick On Your Feet achievement
Fixed a GUI element in the level select menu that did not scale
correctly for different aspect ratios
Adjusted drone prediction algorithm to be closer to how it was before
(the new algorithm resulted in some weird behaviors at times)
Added a better damage feedback effect; visible whenever you take
damage from a bullet, or one of your bullets damage an enemy
Adjusted and improved projectile collision shapes for some assets used
in the Through The Fog DLC
Fixed a visual bug with some clouds in a few levels.
Updated some settings for a couple of texture to not scale down quite
as far on the lowest texture quality setting
