I'm trying to run a mod that requires a copy of game to be launched from a different directory. Steam doesn't seem to like when I try to launch the copy and gives an application load error of 5:0000065434. Is there any way to resolve this?

Having recently been forced to switch over to Ubuntu from Windows, I've been running a number of games via Valve's Proton compatibility system. Sadly this is the first game I've tried so far that Proton can't rescue.
