I just want an update that actually lets us do stuff. It's either really really REALLY crappy defense, or very low-potential crafting. Either way, I'm in the founders club and I HIGHLY regret buying this game.

I see both sides to this. One I get people are impatient i mean yes it has been 3 months since the last update which is mildly crazy i mean look at other games on steam that are in alpha or beta like space engineers or dead linger, both sandbox games but both have several updates a month. However I also see the side of the developers its a hard thankless task to get games out there and its made no easier by people out there pissing and moaning about it not being done. Pissers and Moaners: the game is in ALPHA if you put your money down you should have expected the wait, if you haven't bought the game you don't have a leg to stand on. Realize that these things take time and your complaints don't help the process. Devs: how bout a good faith update huh? Let us know you're still there.

This game delivers what they promise on every update. When the updates come a little late it is to make sure there are no major hindering glitches in the new content. People who post negative comments about this only being in alpha stage should Read the Title. Also, up until January 2013 this game was being developed by only 3 people. Now they have a larger team, but the game is still very impressive.

Perhaps you should try a model like Path of Exile. Make the game free to play and offer a bunch of tiers of "donating" packs with an increasing number of cool game features. Maybe other a la carte microtransaction items. That way people who want it to move along faster can't complain because, hey, it's free, what do you want for free? And the complainers won't feel like they're getting burned. The key is the free-to-play feature. As is, you're asking people to pay to alpha test your game, so when things don't move along like they want, they will feel burned, they will tell all their friends to avoid it, and I'll bet you just won't make as much income as you would with a Free-To-Play structure.

Just a thought, that's all. I really would love to see this game advance, but just based on the pile of comments here... I can't justify spending the cash for it nor promoting it to friends whom I know many also have had to cut back on entertainment budget lately.

Wow. I read the description almost drooling, thinking how awesome this game sounded, so very ambitious. So many things it wants to be! I posted on Facebook with links to the Steam description and the StarForge homepage, raving about how awesome it sounded and how cool that YT video looks... but then came here and scrolled through the rather scary comments. Not sure if I want to plunk down $11.99 (Steam Winter Sale price) on a game that may never reach even beta, let alone release. After nearly getting burned by Towns, a game which I was ready to purchase despite some major issues and which I discovered had been basically dropped by its devs in favor of other projects, I think I'm going to delete my FB rave and put a hold on putting money into this.
