This is one of the best RPGs ever made. With caveats.

The first major caveat is you will need to download a mod to get the game to run to it's fullest potential. I myself use OpenMW, and the Morrowind Graphics and Script extenders are also viable options for getting the game to run on Modern hardware (and do so incredibly well).

The second major caveat is this game definitely shows it's age, and will feel janky if you came to this game from other Besthesda titles like Skyrim, especially with how much early combat is dice roll dependent. As someone who's played a version of this game since 2003, it's endearing to me, your mileage may vary.

Those caveats out of the way, this is my favorite RPG ever, without question. There is no game that I've played that's rewarded my ADHD quite like this game does. It might be a relatively small world to walk around in, all things considered, but the depth and care that's put into Vvardenfell, how the caverns, crypts and ruins are expertly constructed and littered throughout the world, alongside some lovely quests, dialog, and small bits that make the world feel alive. Combine this with a lot of the other elements of role playing, jank, and modding potential and you have yourself a sandbox that is infinitely enjoyable and ever expanding.

There is a reason why 22 years later Morrowind still has an active community with a vibrant modding scene, and that is the quality of the game Bethesda made in 2002. Sure, it's not optimized for modern hardware, and you need to fix it through modding. Turns out, once you fix modern compatibility that this game in base form is hours of fun, and then after that you have years worth of content that is being built by dedicated mod teams that is unmatched by a vast majority of games, except for maybe Skyrim.

I recognize Steam only sees 0.1 Hours on here, but it's not including the hours I have on disk, the hours I had on the Bethesda key (which is how I got a free copy on top of my CD copy of the game), nor does it recognize OpenMW as playing the game itself. Over 20ish years I've likely played close to, if not over 1000 hours of this game. It would be dishonest of me not to recommend this game. It's highly worth your time to embrace the role playing.
