If they was a half-life 3 beta, then it would be all over youtube, internet and these forums. I bet its some sort of scam to get silly people to buy a beta key or something.

Unfortunately just a prank, no one really knows if there will even be a Half-Life 3. The other thing is I highly doubt Valve will release it in a public beta.

It's a prank that has been pulled for as long as HL3 release became a meme.
So far I've seen people on my friend list play "HL3", "HL3-Closed Beta", "DOTA 3", "DOTO 2"....

All you have to do is put a non-steam game into the steam client, call the program whatever you like.

It's just renaming a non-Steam game on Steam, anyone can do it by adding one and going to properties.

in the friendslist. instead of "In-Game" there will be "In non-steam game"

I do this all the time, just to mess with people.

there is no hl3 on steam.
