Is there a way to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 with my son in LAN or Family Network using Steam? Thanks in advance.

you need Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on one Steam account. After that you have to Authorize your son's steam account with your account so he can play your games and viola you are good to go.

First, you must have MW3 on both yours and your son's accounts. Family Sharing wouldn't work, because it only allows one person to use the account at the same time.
Then just set up a Private Match and invite other player (you might set availbility to friends only or something). I don't own MW3 so I don't know how to do it exactly, but it's the same procedure in every modern COD game.
