It's up to the developer and publisher. The original Borderlands was ported to Mac by a third-party called Feral Interactive - which is why the Mac version isn't available on Steam. If you'd like to see Borderlands 2 on Mac (and on Steam), your best bet would be to contact Gearbox with the request.

Personally, I just use Bootcamp and Windows. I realize a lot of my fellow Mac users don't like this suggestion, but it really is quite convenient and solves any OS compatibility problems. Also, it's "Mac" not "MAC". :)

They'll probably let Feral port Borderlands 2 also. Just watch for it on the Mac App Store like 6 months to 1 year from now.

Oh man I got excited when I saw it in my mac library, but like al of you, it will not install and after clicking the install button, it creates a desktop icon. When I click on it, it says the game files are corrupt.

if you look in ~/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2 you'll find an empty folder... explains the "corrupt" files.

possible it's an accident on Valve's/Gearbox's part.. hope not though.

Just put it in WINE. There's a great wrapper over at the Porting Team that gets the same performance as the Windows version.

They should just bring out for mac when they bring it out for everything else at the same time instead of waiting like a year to put it out for mac an by that time it will just be old.

guys, in the preferences, there are two betas. im going to see what those are.
EDIT: they appear to be private betas, there called iota and sigma.
EDIT: I have no idea what they do, and they have no password. I also got the borderlands 2 icon in my mac folder.
