My steam will not install (MAC)

well i installed steam so i could get g mod and when i bought it i put it in my applacations at the bottom of the main screen and if i clicked on it said steam is an applacation downloeded from the internet do you want to open it and i said both show web page and open and it brings me back to steam needs to be online to update. please confirm your network connection and try agin and below it says updating steam and its not doing anything my connection is fine and i tried a lot of things i have already bought g mod and i dont want to have to lose it

It would be much apriciated if anywone could help

Try to uninstall Steam and the game. It can be just a little bug
