Failed to start Game (Unknown error) On Mac
Hey I was just playng Tf2 30 minutes ago and closed the game because I needed to get some stuff from the grocery and came back to find myself looking at this message when i tried to open it again. At the bottom is a link to a dead end.

I already tried validating files and also tried deleting appcache and restarting my computer, still no luck.

I also tried reintstalling steam and Tf2 but there is no luck there either. This all started when that Steam Pipe update started and now I can't play the game that I love :( SOMEONE PLEASE HELP – I run 10.5.8 mac system

Yep, same here, and after most recent update, every time I open TF2, it crashes a second later, if I manage to get past the unknown error.

My gosh, ^ this happens to you too? Geez I though I was the only one, Tf2 also crashes the second after I manage to escape the unknown error messages.

Have you tried restarting the client? If that doesn't work, how about restarting the computer?

I haven't been able to even launch the Steam Client, so you're in better shape than myself...

Tried everything James the Mango tried, no luck. Reinstalling, restarting client and then computer, etc. Nothing works.

As cua.Sunaki has stated, I too have restarted the client, restarted computer, reintalled TF2 and Steam twice, validated files, deleted everything except user data and steam apps to "force an update"... etc. Still not able to see any progress. In fact I've moved backwards because even passing the numerous "failed to start game (unknown error)" messages. The game opens for split second and then closes on the doc. :(

This happened with the halloween update. If I remember correctly, it took Valve about 2 weeks before we got a patch fix.

It's something on their end that breaks the game for us. I'm guessing everyone here is using 10.5.8 ?

Have you tried deleting the steam files? Search in google how to clean up Steam Files in mac without deleting the app. It worked for me.

Isn't it already solved, right? :/
