Steam just keeps beachballing! Please, please help!
Since April 23rd, I haven't been able to use steam at all. I open steam, which takes a while, then it shows me the store like it always does. The cursor beachballs for a couple minutes, then it stops. I'll try to click on something, then it beachballs infinitely. The only thing I can do is force quit it. I'm not getting any windows, alerts, or error messages. I tried reinstalling, still doesn't work. PLEASE help, I can't play any games and it's really aggravating!
Not sure if relavent, but here are my specs:
Mid-2011 iMac running Lion 7.2
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB of ram
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB graphics

Same here.
Steam opens, try to update CS:GO and stays like that waiting forever. Won't update, won't work. Can't use or anything. Crashes. and MUST Force to quit.

Any ideas?

It's been like 10 days without fix.

I'm getting massive withdrawal. This is the third discussion I've posted about this, and only two other people seem to be experiencing the same problem.

I just have it hanging on load. I tried to reinstall the application, but that didn't help. It just updated itself, then on restart it's hung on checking for updates...

Yeah, you're not alone. It's stuck on the Updating... screen for me, too. I've reported it. I hope they solve it soon. 10 days is too much to leave customers hanging in any business. It's just bad business all around.

Uninstall and reinstall usually fixes the problem.

Nopers. I've tried a bunch of tricks I've found in places on the Internet, from uninstall-reinstalls to adding a line of script code, starting the program from the terminal, etc. I'd love to play Legend of Grimrock tonight, but that's not going to happen.

Okay, I think I have a solution. Check this out: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/846940248118094836/

Or, to put it more concisely, change your Favorite Window in Preferences to something other than "Store".

The word "Steam" doesn't even display beside the apple logo. The bar is just blank where the "Steam" should be. So...yeah, that doesn't really help :s
