in-game microphone issues MAC
my microphone is compatible with my mac and when i click the "test microphone" button it works fine, but when i try using it in game it will not work. ive made sure to try every combination of options in steam's voice settings and the in game voice settings but it's just not transmitting the sound to the game. I'm playing Insurgency (source engine, so same as CS and HL2)

I know exactly what you are talking about as I too have a Mac. However I have a laptop with a built in microphone, so I'm okay. Here are my suggestions for your problem:

1.) I am assuming you have a microphone seperate to your computer, one that you plug in. If this is the case, there should be a circle with a microphone symbol on it when you plug in your microphone, so when you want to talk, you must press and hold the ESC key to let sound be transmitted. This can be a problem as in some games, I'm not sure if this is the case with Insurgency, but when you play multiplayer in CS, you have to press and hold a seperate key such as K in order let sound be transitted in the game. So I am guessing you have to hold ESC and whatever the other sound key is in your game settings to talk in-game.

2.) If you have a built-in microphone like me, all you have to do is press the key for sound to be transmitted in-game, for me in CS this key is K. To check what yours is, go to the menu and select Options, Keyboard, and check what your key is for your microphone - it should be under communication or multiplayer or something to that effect.

Other than this I am not sure what else you could do. I know this because my friend also has a microphone that he plugges into his mac to use and he also does not know how to use the in-game microphone. If this doesn't work, then I'm sorry but I cannot help you in any other way.
