[MOTM] Modiga-Disabled
Welcome to the Mod of the Month!

Here's how it works. Every month we select a volunteer moderator to answer a few questions. The goal is for everyone to get more acquainted with the community moderators, as a fun activity suited for off topic.

We've started this month's MOTM by asking Modiga-Disabled a variety of basic questions. Feel free to post your own questions as well and Modiga-Disabled may choose to answer them. Make sure to keep them appropriate with the forum rules in mind.

Meet Modiga-Disabled MOTM of December!

Previous MOTMs are available here:
April: Odra
May: Zefar

How did you come up with your handle/persona?
I stole the second half from my older brother and the first half from my younger brother. I felt I was justified because he stole it from a clan he used to be in.

What is your favorite video game and why?
Final Fantasy VII is probably my favourite of all time. It was one of the first games we got for the PlayStation and was a big step up from the games I was used to playing on the Amiga we owned. The game I'm enjoying most at the moment though would have to be Kerbal Space Program. Who doesn't like crashing rockets into Mars?

What is your favorite gaming genre and why?
Despite the above answer, I'd have to say my favourite genre was first person shooters. There'll usually be one I'll be playing. First it was Counter-Strike, then DoD, then CS:S, then DoD:S, then RO:O, then TF2. Currently it's Planetside 2, but I'm not sure how long that will last.

What is your favorite forum on SPUF?
Off Topic. People know what's up and it barely needs intervention.

How long have you been a moderator here?
Since November 2007. Shortly after the release of the Orange Box.

What is your gaming computer's specs?
i5-3570K, 8GB of RAM, GTX 670

Do you speak any languages other than English?
Despite 5 years of French lessons, no.

Cat or dog?
My cat who thinks he's a dog. Whenever we took the dog out for a walk, my cat would tag along and come with us. We were always worried we'd end up losing him somewhere. We had to seal all exits out of the house, if he thought there was a dog walk going on, he'd not stop to think about jumping out of my bedroom window in order to go too.

Sonic or Mario?
I never really liked either... or at least never had the appropriate console.

iOS or Android?
I've not had much experience of Android, but I think theoretically I'd prefer it.

Do you have a memorable or favorite moment on the forums?
The many games of ricochet we have organised over the years.

What region of the world do you live in?
Jolly Old England.

What is your all time favorite movie?
The Shawshank Redemption has to be up there, so I'll go with that.

What TV shows are you currently following or love?
QI.

What is your favorite music artist and genre?
I don't have one.

Who first introduced you to gaming?
I'm pretty sure I've been playing games longer than I can remember (quite literally) so it'd have to be my parents.

How old were you when you got your first computer?
0.

How old are you?
24.

What was your first video game? Do you still play it?
I can't remember. Certainly one of the earliest I enjoyed playing were the Dizzy games.

Cookies or cake?
Yes please.

Milk Chocolate or white chocolate? or both swirled?
Milk chocolate because it contains chocolate.

AMD or Intel?
These days it would have to be Intel.

ATI or Nvidia?
I don't think I really have a preference. Most recently I went with nVidia.

Possibly a toe once, but going by the rate it healed at it was probably just bruised. With toes the treatment is more or less the same; do nothing with it until better.

Do you have any interesting hobbies?

Videogames are a hobby, right?

What's your favourite book?

One of the Discworld books. I'll go with Thief of Time... or Night Watch... Or Jingo. One of those.

Why am I better at Civilization V than you?

Why do you call it SPUD when it is clearly called SCUD?

Because you'd probably cheat and pick Korea.

Why do you call it SPUD when it is clearly called SCUD?

Because missiles.

Isn't that supposed to be a reason to call it SCUD?

Congrats :)

What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done?

If you could visit any place in the world where would it be and why?

Statisically speaking, it was probably get inside a car. But in seriousness, I can't think of anything I've done that was particularly dangerous.

I think it'd be nice to visit Seattle at some point and go have a tour round Valve. That's probably on the more reasonable end of the spectrum. I mean there are a whole range of places which would be amazing to visit, I just don't think I'm the sort of person who would really anticipate going; I would opt more for enjoying whatever it was as it occurred. Given a large part of that is seeing what happens as it happens, there's a flexibility. Pick any continent and you'll find hundreds of unique experiences that one can enjoy... well except Antarctica. That probably has about 4 things.

Those are the three that popped into my mind.I'm not saying they're not great, I'm just saying that's a pretty short list! :p

So snow wasn't the first thing that came to mind? Weird...

-Graphics or gameplay?
-How important is a good soundtrack to you?

It's not that it doesn't come to mind, it's just I'd classify it under great scenery. Snow itself isn't all that uncommon, but endless plains of it obviously is.

Anyway, gameplay, although there's a limit on that. But a game with good, unique gameplay to it is more enjoyable than a game with mediocre gameplay but great graphics.

I think sound tracks are one of those things I don't really pay attention to, but if I were to launch a game and find it the sound track was gone, I'd probably miss it. the right soundtrack can really complement a game. The atmosphere of the game is a really important part of a soundtrack working. For example, I don't particularly like Half-Life and Half-Life 2's soundtracks as stand alone things, but I think they suit the games really well and are well integrated into them. That's what's most important.

These threads would probably get more attention if the icon was blue, not grey.
