Endless Space

Depends on your preference. Endless Space is a pretty good 4x turn-based game, whereas X3 is a really good action-oriented game. They are different genres though, so keep that in mind.

Endless Space!
X3 has so much potential but it can be highly frustrating. Makes me rage-quit every time I play it ^^

Endless Space for RTSing and controlling fleets with ease. Albion Prelude for first person space exploration immersion.

Endless Space is actually a TURN-based game akin to the Masters of Orion series.

Totally different genres. X3 is like Elite, and Endless Space is Civilization in space (well, like MOO, really).

I would recommend Armada 2526 over ES, actually, and Evochron instead of X3. But I'm not helping, I know. :p

no; it's fine. If they're better games that i haven't heard of before then i'll consider them as well :)
Edit: just looked at Armada 2526 and the tech tree seems a bit limited/ the game doesn't seem very deep on first impressions :/

I'd forget about those two and go with X3 Terran Conflict instead.

Isn't Albion Prelude the expansion to Terran Conflict?

Its a stand alone expansion (does not require the base game to play) that has some new ships and a war raging on the Terran/Argon border as well as some other changes (stock exchange, missile mechanics redone, ect)

I prefer it to TC but some people don't want to have to deal with the war.

Actially it requires X3TC to play.

Bah, I thought it was standalone. (guess I was thinking of Terran Conflict and Reunion)
