Are my Intel e8400 cpu temps normal?
Need to make sure that my system is running ok after installing a new cpu and cooler. I installed a intel e8400 with a Arctic Freezer 7 pro rev 2 cooler. When applying AS5 thermal paste I used a pea sized amount, maybe just a little more. I used the credit card spread method to apply. When my computer is in idle it seems to run at 36-38c and with light usage I see the cpu running around 40-42c. Have not tested with any games yet.

Those temps are fine. When temps get to around 70C, is when to watch it.
That seems to be normal but you should start up a game and see the temps at full load.

Will do

Test with Warframe.

Old cpu (e6550)
Low settings
Feels like low/med fps
Peaked at 60c

New cpu (e8400)
Low settings
Feels like very high fps
Peaked at 60c

Temps about 10min after gaming were 44-45c. Also found that my Tj max is 100c.

Read on a couple forums that temp monitors like coretemp do not read 45nm cpus very well. They said that they are 10c lower then what coretemp says and to use something like realtemp to monitor temps.
