Resolution issue - various titles
Hi, I recently bought a new laptop (1366x720, windows 7) and I extended its desktop by connecting it to the tv (1920x1200) via hdmi. I noticed that my older titles (Fallout 2, Jagged Alliance 2 - Wildfire, KotORs...) change their resolution upon being launched, as if they were launched on an old monitor. I unplugged the TV set but the issue persists and due to the fact that plugging it in was one of the first things I've done before, I am not sure if the problem occurs because of my laptop or because of my tv. What should I do?

Not all older games have the 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 capability. When those games were released the widescreen HD monitors were not really common thing like they are now.

Those days most common resolution was 1024x768 and 1280x1024 and lot of older games just dont run higher then this.

My last laptop, which had exatcly the same resolution as this one, did not have any problems with these games.

Widescreen monitors will usually stretch the image to fill the screen if there is non-standard resolution, not really sure why your laptop doesnt do that.

Well there is one game that I have that supports 1366 x 768 and it is over 10 years old. However it doesn't support 1080P and when I put it in 1366 x 768 it doesn't scale right.

Just like rumpelcrutchskin said, games can support that resolution, but it doesn't mean it will scale properly.

Depends on the game. Some do not supply 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions.
When u re-install a game, or you change GPU drivers, some games may revert to a "safe mode" resolution.

How a game or other full-screen app scales however can depend on your GPU settings, or other settings in the OS. So double check your GPU settings.

Look for mods too for old games. For example gentool is a modification for command and conquer generals (2003) which adds support for widescreen.
