Is 60c too hot for Galaxy GT 640?
Is 60c hot for a Galaxy GT 640? Wanted to make sure that I'm not pushing my gpu into the danger zone.

==EDIT==
+ Card is overclocked to 950mhz be default (150mhz faster then Nvidia's specs). Found clock speed using Galaxy Xtreame Tuner HD.
+ GPU is good up to 102c according to Nvidia specs page.

if 60c was too hot amd users would have fried their gpu's by now.

Get yourself GTX 750 Ti like _I_ said. Even the CPU integrated graphics are those days better then or equal to GT series cards.

Or a amd radeon r7 250 which will even at that price blow the gt 640 out of the water.
those 2 cards are around the same performance

gtx750 kills either one
R7 250 is not really much if any improvement over GT 640

To get something where u can play games and effectively run them above the lowest quality levels, I would suggest GPUs such as R7 260X 2GB or GTX 750 Ti 2GB for those looking to stay below $160 range

Or something a little cheaper, R7 260 1GB or GTX 750 1GB, which are around the $100-$120 range. Maybe even cheaper with some models, due to available rebates and such.

Anything below these GPUs and they will either be sorely outdated, or lack enough power to effective run DX/OGL games.

if he has a gt640, odds are its an oem pc with stock psu
the gtx750ti will be less wattage than the 640

r9 260x is 115w, may be too much of a strain on the psu
I bought an old desktop, installed a new psu, and the GT 640 gpu.
Ok, what model PSU is it?
Also what desktop model too, so we can look it up and see the case and such.

I own a Lenovo m57-6075. My psu is a Antek VP-450 450w, the stock psu was 280w.

That Lenovo case is just no good. I would get a better case and move the internals over to new case that allow u some fan placement for airflow.

That PSU is border-line. U might get away with GPUs such as R7 260X or GTX 750 Ti, nothing higher.

Here are a couple low priced cases I'd suggest.
COUGAR Spike - Micro ATX Case[www.newegg.com]
COUGAR Solution - ATX Mid Tower Case[www.newegg.com]
I appreciate your help.
That temp was from playing Planetside 2 on high for about an hour. Cpu is bad so my fps stays at 30-35 in light battles, and get as low as 15 in very large battles. If my cpu were able to push more frames consistantly, would I have overloaded my gpu?

Low fps is probably more because of very weak GT 640 card. What CPU do you have?
