how long will my setup be able to play next gen games?
I have a GTX 660 factory overclocked with an intel i5 processor.

It can play Titanfall on High pretty well. I'm wondering, is this year the last year next gen games are going to run well? What about Watch Dogs?

Also, would it be smarter to upgrade my PC or buy a PS4?

You should be fine.
Considering the average person doesn't upgrade their computer for like 3-5 years.
And when they do upgrade it's usually something minor like the GPU.
If you do happen to have trouble running next gen titles (which i doubt) then you can just upgrade your GPU.
Your processor is fine. There are a lot of people who can run high titles who still rock a 2nd gen intel processor and a GTX 5xx GPU.

i5 and GTX 660 should still last for quite a while. It's already better then PS4 so not much point getting that. You might want to upgrade the graphics card down the line though but probably best to wait until the new GTX 800 series cards are out.

Only ever buy consoles if there are exclusive you really want; your PC should be OK for this generation, go SLI if you really need to.

first gen i5 may be pushing it, but they overclock very good
2-4g will be fine for a long time yet

gtx660 is still a good mid tier gpu
may need an upgrade in a few years, but thats easy to to
currently anything better will cost $200+

Processors aren't as important any-more, games still don't use cache and hyper-threading properly, and the OP is unlikely to benefit from the i7's integrated graphics at all.

It was about the processor, it won't matter in the long run.
