I want a Gaming PC and need advice.
I have been a console gamer for a long time. The new consoles don't really do anything for me and I have to look at my money. PC gaming is just cheaper in the long run. My problem right now is that I only have a Laptop, I can play games on it but it's getting old, I have it for 4 years.

I have saved up money for a PS4 but want to spent that money rather on a PC, so I have around 400 - 600 Euros (roughly the same in US Dollars) that I can spent on a good gaming PC. If possible I rather not build it myself. Can I get a good gaming PC for that price range? What specs (is it called specs? I'm a noob.) do I have to look for?

Why don't you want to build it yourself? Building a PC is the best part of it IMO as you can feel the satisfaction of it being built. Admittedly if you don't want to break anything I can understand it, but just think of it like... Adult Lego.

for £800 you can build a very nice gaming pc

dont go amd, they are way behind intel in core performance

ex.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£139.19 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: MSI B85-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 Motherboard[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£56.18 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Avexir Core Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£53.90 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£54.98 @ Aria PC)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£176.98 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Cooler Master K280 ATX Mid Tower Case[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£29.99 @ Aria PC)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£44.98 @ Amazon UK)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£11.78 @ CCL Computers)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)[uk.pcpartpicker.com] (£69.96 @ CCL Computers)

Total: £637.94

can go better without windows

Well, if I can't get a good one I consider it, building it myself, there are enough tutorials out there, it doesn't really look that difficult. It's not that I'm afraid of breaking things, it's more like I'm afraid that I do it wrong.

most difficult part is installing the cpu cooler
and only use the correct standoff locations that the board needs
most cases have mounts for itx/atx/m-atx which

for a prebuilt, start something like this for £420
http://www.ebuyer.com/614237-zoostorm-desktop-pc-7873-0486
and get a good psu and gpu (easy upgrades)

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2ZMSJ
gtx 660+ xfx550w = £173

I'd really recommend building your own.

What you can build on your budget:
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/2ZSXl

Something cheaper would be a Athlon II x4 760K and HD 7790 / R7 260X.

I'm not sure but I don't think you'd get anything good on a prebuilt. You might be lucky to get like a A10 6700 APU, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD & so on. With a PSU replacement and a new GPU you could potentially turn it into a respectable gaming build but it'd end up costing a lot more.

I bought and built my pc recently. Heres what i got and the prices.

amd FX8320 8-core 3.5 (overclockable to 3.9 factory) $130 []

Asus 990FX Extreme3 Motherboard: I got the amd version but i recomend this motherboard for intel or amd, it is really nice and reliable. $110 ish

Ram: get anything 1866speed (8-gigs) $60ish

Video Card: Get the best you can afford, as of right now Nvidia is cheaper per GPU power than Radeon. I would say Nvidia 770 if you can afford it, if not i would go 560Ti/660 Nvidia.

Hard Drive: Solid State Drive FTW(Put steam and your OS on it, everything else on a normal drive.)

Just my opinion, but i have a few sites to help you make your mind up.
Video Card: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
CPU: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Good luck!

I'd say on the Motherboard front, a 970 will do if you're going AMD and not crossfiring or using a single monitor and have no plans to in the future and then spending some of the saved money on a better GPU

Also, I thought Radeon were ahead of Nvidia in Price/Performance? I maybe wrong, I've not kept up for months really.

I can agree with the 970.
Radeon WAS better 6 months ago, but they just recently raised there prices for some reason which put Nvidia on top. Dont ask me why, they had the market, then they blew it.

Ah ok, thanks for that, ok. I've not been keeping up for a while now!

BTW, altho its not on steam(sad panda), BF4 IS the game to test your system out on. I have 8-core 3.5 and its the ONLY game to activate all 8 cores. (Space Engineers with mega ships shooting all at once(i was host) with 3 people did make my 7th core power up once, for 5 min.)
Rove 25. Feb. 2014 um 10:53
AMD is only more expensive in North America, in other places it retains similar prices as it had more than 6 months ago.
I gotta say. I don't really understand any of what you guys said, sorry. I think I'm better off saving up some more money and buying a good computer around christmas or so, at the store.

I'm doing good with my laptop right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215095
