Computer giving me trouble can anyone help?
Ok so i don't know where else to turn this gaming laptop i bought is having frame issues but according to the spec requirments i read it should be fine. The specs are
GPU: GeForce GT 740m
CPU:Intel(R)core(TM) i7-4800MQ cpu @ 2.70GHz
RAM:8GB
i've updated the drivers and that hasn't helped. What annoys me is that "GeForce experience" is telling me some of these games can be run at max settings but then the frames go down a bit. For example teamfortress 2. Im currently playing on low settings, resolution 1360 or something like that and i will have about 70-100 fps but once some big fighting happens it goes down to about 20-40. My friends laptop has a little bit lower specs then mine and he runs games on ultra with no lag and we're talking games like sleeping dogs and the old republic. I just don't know what to do this is so frustrating. Maybe my specs actually suck i don't know.

Online games may be limited by their servers. You can't render the other players at high FPS unless you get fast enough reports of where they are.

Does that have to do with my internet because my friend with hes laptop lives in the same house as me and hes fine. Im not sure how it works.

IDK just saying it could be the server. Might very well be something else. Does it happen in all games?

Now that i think about it though its mostly online games but to be fair the only games i've played offline are games like rogue legacy and mount and blade.

Just tried the offline mode for teamfortress 2 was pretty much the same. Thanks for the input though.

Maybe it's somehow using the Intel HD and not the GPU?

Its more than likely a throttling issue, make sure the laptop is plugged in and set to high power mode when plugged in in control panel > power

I'm not looking for the specs of your computer, I'm looking for the specs of your friend's computer.

ohhhhhh ok. he has about the same specs as me but hes graphics card and processor are lower numbers then mine. i'd ask what exactly but hes sleeping. Don't know if it helps but his screen is alot smaller then mine.

You wait until your friend wakes up and you get the CPU and video card he's running and also the screen resolution and video settings you both run when playing the game. Lower component numbers don't always mean anything when comparing computers.

That is due to laptop's limited. Plus 740M is not same as GT 740. It look like your friend are in somewhere in full of smoke effect at game. It happened all time. In fact, if real video card are in laptop then power would heavy discharge battery. There is reason 740M to not be used for gaming.
