Is CPU a crucial part for steam game?
Im thinking about upgrading my computer but dunno which to upgrade(cpu or graphic driver)

Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 240

That's my computer info.

Ppl(who doesnt know that i wanna play steam games) advises me to upgrade my graphic driver. But the games that i wants to run is like Hitman absolution, SP blacklist, chivalry, etc. And Systemreq says that my cpu lacks the most.

So, the question is, which needs the upgrade more?(or do i need serious upgrade for both)

both the pentium and gt 240 are old and were even at their time considered to be quite bad.

Both are below par for the newer major releases.

You need to upgrade to Radeon HD and to Intel Core i3 for instance.

I would suggest upgrading to a AMD APU, this is a CPU + GPU on the same (CPU socketed) chip. If you get a A10 APU then you will have upgraded your CPU & GPU.

Just so you know though you will need a new motherboard for a new CPU (or APU) and this is true for any new CPU, not just AMD. A new motherboard will be required because all the new CPUs have new sockets. You will need a motherboard that fits the same socket as the CPU or APU. For a A10 APU that is either FM2 or FM2+, FM2+ will fit both while FM2 will only fit FM2 and not FM2+.

A new motherboard will also mean new RAM because you will need DDR3 RAM for any new motherboard. DDR2 will not fit or work so don't try and force it.

The A10's CPU portion is not much faster than the cheaper A8's CPU portion however the GPU portion of the APU on the A10's is much faster so go for a A10.

Here is 2 ideas for RAM, APU and motherboard:

A10 6790K socket FM2 APU, 8GB (2*4GB) DDR3-2133 RAM, ASRock Pro 4+ MicroATX socket FM2+ motherboard
Total: $254.97

A10-7850K (the newest & best) socket FM2+ APU, 16GB (2*8GB) DDR3-2133 RAM, ASRock Extreme 6+ ATX socket FM2+ motherboard
Total: $449.97

You can always add a separate GPU later if you need even more power.

AMD APU are not the most powerful cpus and videocards.
But with APU, you get a cpu + videocard for very very cheap and good performance, so why not, I dont know if the trend will take up.

It really depends on the money you want to to put in it...
So nobody can help if you dont give a price ...
