Upgrading RAM of my PC to run better TF2
Hello everyone, as the title says, i want to upgrade my RAM to the double, passing from 4 to 8 GB of RAM, i have intel graphics (sh*tty, i know :(( but it´s what i have) and a intel pentium R CPU N3540 2.16 GHz (4 cores) processor, my OS is x64, and i have windows 8.1, so that´s not a big problem for me for upgrading it, my question is: Am I going to have a significant upgrade boost in FPS and perfomance to play TF2, or it wouldn´t be such a improvement to it?

Getting more RAM won't help you.
TF2 is a 32Bit application and it can't use more than 2GB RAM anyway.
It will run a tad smoother, but not faster. CPU and integrated videochip are just too weak.

I know i will not reach 60 fps, but im fine with 30, at least if i do that, it will run more fluently, and don´t having framerate problems more often when there´s too much people in a server?
or for example, in MVM, when a tank gets destroyed, i have lag or framerate issues, with more RAM it wouldn´t fix it that, right? is more of a screen issue

instead of getting more ram, install a graphics card. you will see a massive jump in performance.

this card is $90, but could easily run tf2 at max settings, no problem.

At $79 only.

i considered recommending the 550, but i saw this benchmark vs. the 750 ti.

the 950 is better than the 750 ti. $10 more and a slightly higher tdp than the 550, but worth it in my opinion for the extra performance.

Considering the OPs system, the PSU is a cause of concern when it comes to what GPUs he may be able to get.

8GB RAM will help with overall performance, not specifically with TF2 or other games since its using Intel graphics, but 8GB in general will be of help.

a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti may be the best option for power usage until we know what PSU he has.

And is this an actual Full desktop PC, or a Laptop/Netbook?

then disregard everything we've said. you can't upgrade your graphics card. you can install some more ram and it could help a little, but for the most part you will be stuck with choppy gameplay.

RAM will have virtually no impact on the game. Once you reach 3.5 GB or such, any other improvements will be barely noticeable if at all.

Your best bet is to use some of the sketchy DiY tricks to plug in a decent entry-level card, like the GT 740 or GTX 950 75w. Or, you can start following LowSpecGamer on Youtube... he covers a lot of ways to reduce graphics in ways you wouldn't expect, ranging from minute differences to overkill Tetris-ification.

Your processor is completely fine for the game, but your Intel HD chip is bottlenecking everything. To the naysayers who say a laptop processor can't do anything right, keep in mind that a Pentium E6600 can handle the game at a locked 60 with a nice GPU.

yeah all u can do is add more RAM then

look up the make/model and make sure it can actually do 8GB and the max speed RAM it can use.

Moss, its a laptop.

Thats kinda the point..

he asked about RAM
Not buying a new system

But he indeed asked about to get greater gaming performance, didn't he...?

Having to do with his CURRENT system
Not having to buy a new one
