NO STEAM (OS) AUTO UPDATE
I want the ability to turn the steam update off like I can my games. I DO NOT LIEK where this is heading and I want to track things. So if you must auto-update, I want change logs.
Oh, and I'd liek, yes LIEK, to know where those logs will be.

you mean like these:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_client

Or the beta:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta#announcements

You also have the info on the update windows if you are login while you get the update

Steam client updates are extremely infrequent. Maybe once a month it gets updated.

The steam client always pops a change log when it updates. It gives an extensive changelog list when a patch is applied.

If you don't like frequent client updates dont be part of the steam client beta.

changelog does not equal no autoupdate. in fact, it indicates auto update with notes.

Steam updates are needed to fix bugs. They may change the steam:// url handling protocol so if you don't update along with them, your Steam would be out of order entirely.
That would most definitely result in thousands of erroneous service queries and forum posts - as opposed to benefitting exactly one person because nobody else has an issue with the autoupdates...
