Backup Broken? is there a fix

Whenever I try to backup my games it starts backing up and then the megabyte counter freezes and the time starts going up. and it never finishes IS THERE A FIXXXXXX? and if so can you tell me

to simply copy the steamapps/common folder

Well probably you can backup it hard way by going to Steam root directory\SteamApps\ and ziping game folder and copy it somewhere.

While trying to backup my games, I couldn't reproduce an error, it works fine for me (Tried on Counter-Strike)

You just copy the folder over.
But unlike Satoru, I find the "copy steamapp folder" trick not always reliable; on the other hand the Backup feature isn't really flawless, mine tends to hang after making a few different backups and for some episodic games (e.g. Back to the Future or Sam 'n' Max) often doesn't work.

Generally speaking however, works.

I'm trying to backup all my games at once, would you suggest backing them up one at a time and seeing which one faild to save properly?
