i have this same problem, i have to reinstall steam several times before it actually works and then shortly after it freezes at the trying to connect screen. please help

go and uninstall all the pograms on the list https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289&l=
its probely one of them
