HELP - Steam Crashing
I can't even get steam to open, it crashes as soon as it says "Connecting to steam account" .Steam is not running in the background. I have checked the interfering programs, which are all closed, I tried starting it manually from Start-Program, same result. I have tried repairing, uninstall, fresh install, and restarting my computer.I am now getting "The exeption unknown software exception (0X40000015) occured in the application at location 0x3f01b100" when I try to open steam.

Well seems you aren't the only one contact Steam Support.

Do you have crash dump files in your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\dumps" folder ? If so, ZIP them and email them to me (martino@valvesoftware.com)

Martino: as per the dumps folder it is empty.

Fred: I have installed/reinstalled like the link above, same result.

This is the DxDiag in the link below that I saved.

Thank you. Having trouble finding a driver for my graphic card.. NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT

You can download drivers from the NVidia website.
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

You're wanting to download the "GeForce 6 Series". Select your OS version as appropriate and then click "Search".

Everything is now up to date. Including graphics card, sound card, and keyboard driver. Also there is no more available updates for windows. But unfortunately I am still getting the same error message while trying to start steam.

Well, you and me both, I have had the problem since they started Big Picture, my best guess is that Win XP is no longer supported, but I'm still not sure and can't verify anything

Fred: If you're still willing to help I am on now for a little bit, if not I will be on later this evening.

I have this error too now. No solution, despite complete reinstallation of windows on a freshly formatted drive. Any solution?
