Steam wont open
I tried uninstalling Steam because when I try to open steam it will load and then stop. So logically I tried uninstalling steam and tried to install it again. But it says it is still running, even after I downloaded it and I tried to stop the process of steam.exe in the task manager, but it says cannot stop process: Access Denied. So now I cant install Steam please help me as I love using the steam client and have games on there.

I have this same problem. I haven't tried the task manager thing yet, but I'm sure it'll do the same thing it did to SurfDawg.

SurfDawg, does it sometimes say 'updating %appname%' instead of updating Steam for you?

Have you tried restarting your PC yet?

Turn the PC completely off for at least 30 seconds before powering it back up. This is called a cold boot. If you did that then it is not going to help. I would use msconfig to do a clean boot and reinstall Steam.
