8.1 set all my drivers back to windows 98?!!!!!and bios from ao2 to ao0 I dont even know what that is..

MS even released an 'update' to inform me randomly (by locking my start screen and forcing me into the store) that 8.1 is an available free update. After reading all of the horror stories online, I don't think I will ever update to 8.1 without doing a complete reinstallation of W8 first, and then immediately do the 8.1 update.

Op, a reinstallation of vanilla W8 may be the only solution if all else fails. But try verifying the integrity of the game cache for all of your games and see if that helps. If you don't know how to do this, just ask. :)

And make sure you have the latest hardware drivers.

THanks Joh....I actually did the verifying integrity of game cache and the game downloaded some files. After that it fixed my issue with Castlevania LoS. I did the same with skyrim. Skyrim is still randomly crashing tho, but not as often as before I did the verifying game cache integrity bit.

Same problem here, had to verify integrity of game and then it worked.

The 'trick' seems to be after 'updating' to W8.1 is to:

1. Reinstall graphics drivers (perhaps even more than just gpu drivers?)
2. Verify the integrity of the game cache for all of your Steam games (maybe just those affected?)

Do not use windows, use Linux!
Try Ubuntu, better performance in game and free programs, software and etc...
Definitely better than windows! Just try..
Linux is beast
