Steam just stole my money.
I purchaced GTA V with my Visa through the store in Steam.
I did not get the game. Yet when I check my Visa statement, the money has been taken.

I called Visa and they said they approved the purchase, the vendor has not claimed it.

There is no way to contact Steam directly. How do I get my money back?

I phoned the Valve/Steam offices. They had an option to enter an extention, or 3 options for customer support and billing issues on 7, 8, and 9. When any of those option are entered, the automated phone says that they don't take calls about billing.

They have those options still...

If you didn't get the game it's most likely an authorization. Check back in 1-3 days and it should be back on your card. If not, try contacting Steam thought this link

What does https://store.steampowered.com/account/ say about your purchase? Did you get a confirmation email from Steam? Well if you didn't get confirmation from Steam (again you can check the status here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/ ). Then the transaction has likely failed. If that is the case then the payment method company have put a hold on your funds. What that means is that the funds will eventually return to your account/card usually within 1-5 business days (up to a maximum of 10) depending on your country's laws and payment provider's policies

I did this. But according to other posts, this is not reliable.

I did not get a confirmation email. It's not in my account either.

I didn't use a web browser. I used the steam application on my PC, so it wasn't phishing. The money is taken from my CC.

What I wrote has nothing to do with phishing or using a web browser

that would work if he had a month or more to wait for them to decide if they want to respond or not

Wait Steam has a phone number you can call, what type of sorcery is this?

Steam/Valve 1 (425) 889-9642

It's useless. They have support options, if you select them the next menue just tells you they don't offer the support that the previous menue told you to select.

Perhaps you should understand what Visa told you when you called them?

They said "That they had approved the purchase but the vendor had not claimed the money."

Which means that Steam has not stolen your money. In fact they refused to take it. Usually this is a result of some part of your billing information being incorrect. What will happen is in a few days Visa will return the money to your account.

Which incidentally you would have found out if you'd asked Visa, "So what happens now?" after they told you the vendor had refused to take your money.

I bought it... I blame Steam.

P.S. It's not an endorsement. It's my solution.
