Wierd 72fps cap
Been having this problem for a while, but i can't find a permanent fix for it. I thought it might have been a bad update or a driver problem, but it's been multiple updates and nothing has changed.

When i start CS:GO i have a fps limit of 72FPS, both in menu and in gameplay. My config is fps_max 300 and fps_max_menu 120. It stays at max 72 fps forever, unless i tab out of the game. If i alt+tab out of the game and enter the game again, my fps rises to whatever my computer can handle, like ~200fps on dust2.

Specs:
AMD FX-8320
nVidia GTX960
8GB ram
500GB SSD
Windows 10

You don't understand the issue... FPS in the game is NOT bad, and FPS is NOT an issue. The issue is that the FPS is somehow maxed at 72 FPS until i alt+tab out of the game, then its fine again.

Could be a Windows 10 priority problem, im not sure. CS:GO works perfectly after alt+tab out of the game.

Do you have Vsync enabled?

No, and that wouldn't explain why its capped at 72fps at launch, and after alt+tab it reaches full fps. Also im running a 144Hz monitor.

Is Vsync enabled in Nvidia control panel for this game? Many run 72FPS 144Hz.

Sounds like you have half refresh rate Vsync enabled.

Nvidia control panel is set to: Use 3D application setting, and CS:GO is set to Vsynch Disabled. Just to make sure i tried to completely disable vsynch in the nvidia control panel, but CS:GO still starts with a 72FPS cap before i alt+tab.

Is fps_max 72 in your CS:GO launch options?

Odd. Could be a driver issue then. Maybe look for an updated version, or try an older one.

Use DDU app and select "Reboot in Safe Mode"
Wipe out NVIDIA
Reboot normally and download one of the 365.xx or 368.xx versions.
During install select Custom...
tick Forceware, PhysX, HDMI Audio Driver
tick Clean Install
Reboot once install has completed.
