Friend has trouble with steam support
So one of my friends somehow forgot his Steam Guard code even though he could wait for the next one, so he went to support and they ask for his credit card info but he never used credit card on steam is he getting scammed?

Have your friend go here: help.steampowered.com
Have your friend submit a ticket and the friend will need to supply proof of ownership of the account.

As long as your friend is using that link it's safe. The request for a credit card number is a request for Proof of Ownership and there are other options.

Trolling much?
I'm hard pressed to belive anyone would receive an answer from support before he would try again and maybe write down the five characters.

Yeah but he never used it on steam so I feel like it's a scam.

Look at the guy in my friends list who was offline for like a month or two. He recently began to give a ♥♥♥♥.

Or the support representative is being lazy and just citing the most common form of Proof of Ownership rather than listing every possible option. If your friend has never used a credit card, then giving the number will be pointless and he/she should provide a form of Proof that is connected to the account.

Isn't it automated?

Nope. Very little, if any, of Support is automated.

No. Support is not automated. They use cut and paste responses a lot, but that is it. It saves on time and typing.

Have your friend respond to the message saying he never used a credit card on Steam. Support should offer alternatives.

Keep in mind that a debit card or a pre-paid card would also fall under credit card.

Also, it should just be the last 5 digits not the entire card number.
