Did valve give any reason why they didn't go to E3?
I cant seem to find any other then "We are not going."

Maybe they did not have anything to say.

The need to announce things at E3 is somewhat moot. There are cheaper and more effective ways these days

it seem E3 was mainly the xbox one and ps4 ..

if Valve has a game in the works, they will share it, but when they are ready.

E3 is pointles these days. They took away everything that made it fun and killed it, then tried to revive it by adding some of the things back.

Valve doesn't need E3 either. Wouldn't supprise me if they made their own "E3" instead. Like Blizz-con or the Minecraft one.

Valve just kinda does their own thing

A couple years ago, the a bunch of big publishers said they were going to stop wasting money on E3, and it was going to become much smaller. Since then it has slowly creeped back up to be the giant money sink that it is for everyone involved.

Pretty sure Valve knows that their target audience hangs on their every move, and they really don't need to 'announce' anything and waste a bunch of money on E3.

Think if they release any new game? Just put it in store without saying anything? It wont be even a day before 90% of people know about it.

With Sony and MS prepping up their war drums for E3, Valve is only gonna get overshadowed by those 2 titans...

MS is getting burried by Sony, and Valve is a titan in it's own right. As others have pointed out, Valve doesn't need E3 any more. Many companies don't and so have left E3 behind.

Those two are hardly titans. MS is bleeding money and trying to copy it's competitors business model (Apple), and Sony is still struggling in the overall market, with the PS being it's only strong point right now over competing electronics.

All Valve would have to do is whisper "Half-Life: Episode 3" and their room would be over filled in a matter of seconds.
