Steam game interference
How do I keep Steam from interfering with my game play just to try and sell me a new game. It gets annoying.

Steam -> Settings -> Interface
Favorite Window -> Library
Uncheck "Notify me about additions or changes to my games, new releasesvand upcoming releases"

Thank You very much. I was going nuts trying to complete a quest without interruption.

Usually the news pane doesn't pop up unless you quit, invoke it, or it gets updated while you were logged in (and even that's rare).
