Need Some Help with Fallout
I recently bought the first Fallout. I never played it - shocking, I know - and after enjoying the hell out of New Vegas I felt like giving this a shot. But here's the problem. There's something wrong with the graphics. I'm getting a smorgasboard of random colourful patches everywhere, especially if the palette on the screen has any light colour.

I looked through the options, hoping I could fix this if I played around with the resolution settings. I figured that was the problem. Couldn't find such an option. What's going on? Why is the game not coloured properly?

I've been running Flatout for years on many computers/installations/versions.

Never have I seen such as you are describing.

You should post your complete system specifications... please include video adapter.
Weeeeell... here's the thing, and I'm probably shooting myself in the foot here, but I have a Mac laptop. I've been using Bootcamp for Windows 7, to play games on Steam. That might explain it, really.

Possibly but you should still list your specs, just in case.

Are there any sorts of bugs in your computer is it broken in any way does it have any cracks if so that may be the problem but like Silicon Vampire said you should list your specs that may be the problem too.
I really don't get it. I mean, Planescape: Torment and Ultima VI look (and play) just fine.

Anyway, how do I find out the specs on my computer? Is there a file somewhere that specifies this, or should I just look up the model online?
And here's the thing. Fallout isn't broken. It's still playable.

It just has this glaring graphical issue.

It's a well-known, common issue Mr. Pink. Because the game is over 15 years old, you need some kind of patch to help get it compatible with a modern OS.

" I'm getting a smorgasboard of random colourful patches everywhere"
Sounds like your video card is overheating and dying.

It's most probably that he needs to install the high-res patch or similar, Sicko. The random colour issue is definitely common if you search around.

Dying video card still my bet

Challenge accepted. I bet 3 internets that it's the patch he needs.
Okay, I'm trying to follow the instructions for the patch... but, where are the files? I bought Fallout off Steam, and outside a desktop icon I don't see a folder with the necessary game files. Unless they're somewhere online?

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout"
Danke

Here's another guide that's specific to Steam (this is all from Google btw): http://www.wikihow.com/Install-a-High-Resolution-Patch-to-Fallout-1-from-Steam
