Or you could stop telling others to stop enjoying and making things you don't like. Deal with it.
And most of them are basically 'paytonothavetowaitsolong' traps.
If they were doing something genuinely interesting with the mechanics fine butreally... I think this:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/383080/
Is more or less a good illustration. EIther do something you know, interesting, or just stop reskinning the same game.
I mean I used to give CCGs the same stuff but at least there each one tried some interesting twist on the mechanics.. SOme worked better than others.
Again, you're telling people to stop because YOU don't think they should be there. You also haven't shown this 'flood' you keep talking about.
It's not nearly as bad as "Zombie Horror Survival Crafting Sandbox" Early Access/Greenlight titles. At least they are free and work as intended.
You have a point there. I'd pay money for a Bunny Survival crafting sandbox.
I'm not telling them to stop. I'm telling them to do more with it. God we've reached the point where the people behind Madden put more work into each of their releases than these guys.
Just sayin'
Them Steam itself starts the ball rolling on some mindless click games. Not that I'll ever touch them.
Hey to each their own I guess..
In my Humble Opinion only.
Just seen a video of Sakura Clicker ... I agree. It looks like a really bad Clicker Heroes copy. Slow progression, no variety, no soul, not even Achievements ... but cosmetic DLC! File it under "obvious moneygrab".
But you did.
Let people enjoy what they want. Something being available doesn't limit other things from being added. Let those that enjoy them, play them.
one would think that you know this perfectly by now
Hey I'm not saying stop making them I'm saying...do more than re-skin the same bloody game. There's certainly a bit of potential and quite a few ideas to be brought out of the genre. But at the moment the devs have managed to settle into a doughy comfort zone.
I'd like to see a clicker game where the devs actually feel they've added enough to warrant an actual price tagon the game as opposed to relying on skinner driven microtransactions.
Just sayin, I saw more actyual variation during the runners craze than I'm seeing now.
As said I have nothing against clicker games themselve I enjoy them but I think devs need to focus less on microtransation skinner boxes and more on actually bringing something new and interesting to the table in terms of the genre. I mean that's how genre's advance. I mean imagine if fps devs were simply content to just make endless Wolf3d reskins.
It's no developer's responsibility to "advance the genre", really. And it's not like these are the first highly derivative, not-particularly-inspired videogames. I still hear people my age call the 80s and 90s the golden age of gaming, but if you look past the relatively few superstar games that last in people's memories, there really was an awful lot of paint-by-numbers crap, just as there always is. Games survived, clearly. All those genres survived too, more or less. Ultimately, other than the few we keep in our heads as examples like Superman 64, awful games just get forgotten.
Interesting fact... and this has been seen time and time again. People generally have difficulty wanting something before it exists. Nobody really 'wanted' a kindle before it existed, then people wanted the bits out of it. Same for the Imac.... I didn't klnow I wanted a game like say Paper's Please until I actually played 'Paper's Please'. I'll wager neither did most of the people whoi played and loved it. Someone has to basically step up to the plate and push the boundary and no I'm not singling out clickers. I give the Madden, Fifa, CoD and BF franchises the same crap. But in those cases they're just more or less copy and pasting their own work. In this case.. they're more or less copy pasting someone else's work.
And they survived because some developer took up the call to arms and pushed the boundaries. If none of them did then we'd still be playing Pong, Table tennis, and Ice Hockey for Video games. It's no developer's responsibility , true but at the same time if no one takes the responsibility then the genre dies and the mediums is a little poorer.. If no one heeds the call to 'do better' then nothing is improved.
I'm issuing the call to arms here. Devs. Try to make a clicker game of such quality, whether by polish or innovation, that people would actually pay $5 upfront for.
