Game is running but screen is black?

As per the title, pressing F10 makes the screen appear for a few seconds then it vanishes again. can anyone help please?

Go into the setting in puzzle pirates and change it from full screen to windowed. I have found this to be a workaround. Use the F10 trick to navigate your way to the settings.

I am running windows 7, same problem. For a while clicking the "CPU Bugfix (helps some steam players)" option corrected this for me, now even that doesn't work. I hate playing in windowed mode. Anyone come up with a non-windowed solution?
