Up/Down Buttons not working

.... the topic says it all. Neither in menu nor in the game are the up/down buttons working. Since the "settings" are rather limited and the game doesn't seem to come with an external setup utility, I'm out of ideas. I found one of the ini files in the install dir to hold various key values, but playing around with those didn't really help at all.
